My Story

Like many people, during the global Covid-19 pandemic I became increasingly stressed, juggling a full time job, homeschooling my young children, training a new puppy (yes, we were one of those new dog owners...!) Not to mention the existential crisis I felt everyday watching the news unfold. It was a scary time, and not great for my ~ or anyone's ~ nervous system. I do believe that many of us are still dealing with the repercussions of that time, whether consciously or on some deeper level.

I have always been drawn to complementary therapies and topics that some people might call a bit "woo" (I love a bit of woo!). I am a big believer in energy and the power we all have within us to find connection and calm through prioritising reconnecting with ourselves, first and foremost.

And so in 2020, seeking a way to support myself emotionally during those uncertain times, I studied transcendental meditation and received my mantra. I may not practice as much as I should, but I continue to find it to be a lovely tool to calm the mind and the 'chatter' ~ even when I'm on a busy London train!

It was around this same time that I stumbled across Emotional Freedom Technique, or 'tapping' as it is also commonly known. I was immediately drawn to its accessibility and  simplicity, and the way it allowed me to safely vocalise what was on my mind, whilst providing a tangible, physical approach to calming my fight/flight/freeze response. I believe it is EFT that has truly helped me overcome my social anxiety (although it is something I still experience from time to time) and helped me find my voice. I qualified as an EFT Practitioner in 2023.

In 2021, I completed my Reiki level 1 and loved how the simple act of hand placements on oneself or on others can create such a sense of warmth, peace and wellbeing ~ all important ingredients for calm, balance and healing.  I completed my Reiki Level 2 practitioner training in 2024 and love how it has deepened by practice.

With regards the name, 'ki' is the Japanese word for energy, and is the second half of the word 'Reiki' ('rei' meaning 'universal', so 'universal energy'). Having lived and worked in Japan in my early 20s, this word particularly resonated with me (as well as being half of my most favourite Japanese word, 'genki', meaning energetic!)  And thus, 'The Ki Connection' was born...

It is now my honour to offer these tools to others, either as separate modalities, or as a powerful, dual session combining both EFT and Reiki.
